How many times has someone claimed to somebody else he or she would be talking to that smoking is a normal activity performed by normal people, only to be contradicted that ‘smoking is not normal’? This happens typically when speaking to people who are not as normal in the first place and may even be perverse and should not dictate what is normal to the rest of us or speak about normality in a conversation. A person who is not so normal or abnormal or perverse will not admit to normality or the normality of the rest of us or their counterparts.
This is exactly what happens with the British and especially with their Labour Party, who banned smoking first to spread the same contagion to the rest of the world. Smoking was first banned in Ireland in 2004 and then in the United Kingdom in 2009 with an act from 2006 after the ban was adopted from Scotland which was voted for in 2007 and came into effect in 2008 and applied by 2009.
People whose majority of the male population is rumoured to be either abnormal or otherwise perverse and not normal cannot objectively dictate what is normal to the rest. A lack of normality will likewise apply for those having the steering wheel of a car on the wrong side of the car which is not on the left, those who refuse to use decimal measuring units and subunits to measure quantities by preserving archaic measuring systems and units that they call ‘imperial’. That is why smoking is a normal activity expected to be practised by normal people that has been initially banned in the United Kingdom. Everything normal including smoking has been misunderstood to be inside out, upside-down or the other way round and people are not expected to practise it or the same expectation is suppressed by prohibition and the respective prejudice and preoccupation that this relates to.
The British or many of them will project smoking to others as not being normal to hide the truth about themselves as not being compatible with normality, including the idea that they have about themselves being a superiority complex. There are many members of that society, more than you would expect from any other, which disapprove of smoking in terms of others other than themselves, and bother to be concerned about themselves in the same way. Despite the same meaning interfering with others, they see it as affecting themselves and cannot tolerate the effect that is generated misinterpreting that it forms part of their business. This in part reflects what has been voted by them with their parliament through the parliamentary body although not the majority which is a percentage of at least 68% opposed to the first smoking ban at the time of its voting.
The British have banned smoking which is a normal activity expected of normal people based on their own perception of normality which projects smoking as not being so normal as it is to the rest of us and indeed the rest of the world.
Raising awareness about the normality of smoking which is derived from the normality of the likelihood of expecting it of people is important as much as it is to stress the opposite case of those who may be abnormal not having the same interpretation.

This is the message behind the NYC C.L.A.S.H. (Citizens Lobbying Against Smoker Harassment) campaign “Smoking is Normal” which captures the same argument and the same sad situation and promotes uncovering the same fact among people. Flyers with the message “Smoking is Normal” written on an air banner have been dragged across the New York City sky by NYC C.L.A.S.H. airplanes letting people know about how and why smoking has been banned.
