Britney Spears smokes cigarette on aeroplane and is received by authorities after landing

Pop star singer Britney Spears has lighted up and smoked a cigarette on her flight from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Thursday 22nd May and was received by Mexican authorities after landing in Mexico. The customs officer let her pass through issuing her with a warning rather than taking further action.

Britney Spears said she was drinking vodka on the aeroplane for the first time and felt like having a cigarette with it, which her boyfriend put in her mouth. She then went around various excuses in her Instagram post for smoking the cigarette aboard the plane, like the seats having external placeholders for drinks, her sitting on the very back of the seats or being given the impression that smoking was not banned from having the cigarette placed in her mouth by her boyfriend.

When asked to do so by the flight attendant, Britney Spears extinguished her cigarette as she was told it was not permitted in the aircraft. Smoking is permitted in part 91 private operations (private jets) and part 135 charters under the supervision of a flight attendant, but this JSX flight was a semi-private flight where this did not also apply.
