Submission to the BBC on extending smoking ban outside schools and hospitals

Punishable events should always be guilty of their performance and should never consist of innocent activities and regular social exchanges, and smoking is an innocent activity that has no reason to be punished by that definition.

Passive smoking is not dangerous, only proactive smoking is. Fines are imposed for driving through the red light which bears a consequence, not for things like smoking which have no consequences, and that is according to those who are around those who are smoking who have nothing to complain to the authorities about if and whenever that happens. Actions that do not return a direct or an indirect victim from their performance are not guilty but innocent according to that criterion. Then how can the same criterion be the government’s decision or one single person’s decision as it is to become instead of the decision that has been made by society which is contrary to what the law has been made to say?

Punishing activities that are innocent of their performance is officially and universally known as fascism and it consists of charging a fine from those who are not at fault. This must not be acceptable by society on behalf of the state.
