The young Israeli Rom Soriano invented something useful and original that solves many problems: the self-igniting cigarette. When it’s raining or snowing or nobody has matches or a lighter with them or forgot them, they can light the cigarette autonomously and use it to smoke without the additional accessory, rain-snow! As long as the cigarette is still in its package and is taken out at that time!
It is a cigarette that has a solidified tip at the end which creates friction when the cigarette comes out of the package and at that time it lights up and is ready for immediate use. It is not the first time that the self-igniting cigarette has been invented, nor is this the only form in which it exists.
Self-lighting cigarettes were first introduced in 1903 in Warwick, England and were lit by rubbing the cigarette manually on the pack. These cigarettes are said to have been first invented in Korea and were used there and in China when they became relatively popular in the 1950s and 1960s. But they were preceded in 1903 by Warwick where the cigarette lights up instead of a match when you rub it on the proper surface of the package, the part with the felt. When this happened the gaseous bodies of friction from the ignition of the cigarette were respirable and could be inhaled on the first puff if one did not expect them to dissolve in the atmosphere.
In 2011 the self-lighting cigarette was invented without the need for a packet wrapper, having a thin plastic sheath around it which the user pulls out of the cylinder from the top side to create friction with the solidified tip of the cigarette which in this way lights up like a match. This patent belongs to Canadian Reid Biram.
In 2015 the capsule in the filter was discovered which lights the cigarette from the end similar to setting off a firework. This patent belongs to the Frenchman Charlie Abisdid from Marseille who asked the help of pyrotechnician Pierre Thermobold who worked for Etienne Lacroix pyrotechnics.
The current invention of the young Israeli relies on the cigarette kept inside the package and coming out at the time when one wants it to be lit. Unlike the old cigarettes that lit like matches, these latest patents do not supply the gaseous bodies of their ignition for inhalation from the first puff, and the gaseous bodies produced due to friction are not inhaled by the user who smokes them.
